Last month, I emailed you about Senator Tommy Tuberville’s egregious abuse of power. He was single-handedly stopping the promotion of more than 200 military servicemembers — and vital military leadership positions were going unfilled because of his performative and dangerous antics. 

Now, over a month later, he is still delaying these promotions. For the first time in Defense Department history, three of the eight most senior military offices in our country are vacant, thanks to Tuberville. The number of servicemembers awaiting promotion has risen to 300, 39 in Virginia alone. As Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said, “This is unprecedented. It is unnecessary. And it is unsafe.”

As the representative for Marine Corps Base Quantico and thousands of servicemembers across Virginia’s 7th District, I will not stand for political games interfering with our military readiness, and I’ll keep calling out the disrespect to our servicemembers and the danger to our national security inherent in his actions.
