Medication abortion saves lives, and Congresswoman Cori Bush is leading the effort in Congress to protect our access to it.

As part of the Republicans’ plan to ban abortion care nationwide, anti-abortion advocates have seen some recent success in federal courts as they try to limit access to the abortion pill Mifepristone.

Cori recently led a roundtable discussion with Democrats on the House Oversight Committee about medication abortion, which has been proven safe and effective for over 20 years, and is now used for over 50% of abortions in the United States.

Cori also introduced the Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act, which would ensure that people seeking abortion care can always access medication abortion through telehealth and certified pharmacies, including mail-order pharmacies.

This legislation is more urgent than ever, and it removes barriers to care for marginalized communities. Accessing medication abortion at home is a lifeline for low-income people who can’t afford to take time off work, get child care, or arrange to travel hundreds of miles to an abortion clinic.
