Watch and see how her powerful story of hope ends!
John ,
The words *"I'm going to be praying for you"* echoed for Shunda.
And then she let her tears loose.
Her baby’s limbs were not visible in the sonogram. Here Shunda was in the doctor’s office, having made the decision to choose life, and now her baby would be born missing not just one limb, but three, and with one foot severely deformed. Her nurse looked at her apologetically and offered her prayers.
Shunda called her aunt, who leaned into her faith and told Shunda, “ You’re going to pray and believe God.”
Uncertainty weaved its way through her mind on whether or not she could parent this child. The weight of the news of her limbless child began to set in. *Feeling inadequate, Shunda called the Human Coalition contact center.*
“Shunda, you can do this.”
Remaining faithful to her promise, the nurse stayed in contact with Shunda throughout the remainder of her pregnancy. With frequent check-ins, Shunda gained the confidence she needed to be empowered to parent. Consistent encouragement from the Continuum of Care team and her faith are what kept Shunda going.
*But her story isn’t over yet!*
