In 2018 , Lauren was elected to represent Illinois’ 14th district and she made history as the youngest Black woman ever elected to Congress. This team did that!

In 2020 , Lauren narrowly won her second term by just 5,374 votes in one of the top 10 closest U.S. House races of the election. Our team rallied to ensure we had the resources to overcome the odds — and just like Lauren said, “This is not my victory -- it is our victory.”

And last year , our campaign faced a significant hurdle following Illinois’ redistricting process. 70% of IL-14 became brand new territory, meaning tens of thousands of voters were seeing Lauren’s name on their ballot for the first time.

In 2022 , this team worked hard together once again to help make sure voters across the district knew about the work we’ve accomplished so far and the important issues to tackle ahead.

That resulted in Lauren’s third term in Congress where she now serves in House leadership. We are so proud that she’s the first Black woman elected by her colleagues since Shirley Chisholm in 1977 as co-chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.

None of this would have been possible without this team’s dedication and incredible support, ever ready to tackle the challenges we face as a community and a country.

Looking back at our many accomplishments has us feeling hopeful and excited to show once again that we have what it takes to take on and crush any challenge we face.
