John,
A federal appeals court just ruled to limit access to the abortion pill Mifepristone. That ruling is in limbo until the Supreme Court reviews it, but this is just the beginning of extremist Republicans’ plan to ban abortion care nationwide.
Even though evidence shows that people can safely and effectively take medication abortion in their own homes, anti-abortion advocates are trying to take away our ability to get medication abortion prescribed via telehealth and to be able get pills through the mail.
Right now, accessing medication abortion at home is a lifeline for marginalized people who can’t afford to take time off work, get child care, or arrange to travel hundreds of miles to an abortion clinic.
That’s why Rep. Cori Bush introduced the Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act, which would ensure that people seeking abortion care can always access medication abortion through telehealth and certified pharmacies, including mail-order pharmacies.
This is personal for Cori, who is a nurse and who has faced financial barriers and systemic racism when she needed an abortion. She understands that this is urgent, and she won’t let the far-right ban life-saving health care.
Please chip in today to support Cori Bush as she does everything in her power to protect and expand life-saving abortion access.

As Cori explained in a recent roundtable discussion she led with Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, the science is clear: For over 20 years, medication abortion has proven to be safe and effective. It now accounts for over half of all abortions in the United States.
Abortion pills were necessary before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year -- and they’re even more essential now.
In the year since the far-right Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, 14 states including Missouri have banned abortion care. Republicans have since tried to lay the groundwork for a national abortion ban, including by attempting to limit access to medication abortion.
In Cori’s state of Missouri, where abortion care is already out of reach for many, people are 25 times more likely to die from giving birth than from taking abortion pills.
Quite literally, medication abortion saves lives. Forced birth can be deadly, particularly for Black women, who are three times more likely than white women to die from pregnancy-related complications.
As a Black woman who’s seen racism in health care from the perspective of a patient and a nurse, Cori is leading efforts in Congress to secure reproductive justice.
In addition to legislation to protect access to medication abortion, Cori has introduced bills to remove disparities and barriers for those in need of abortion care, including providing grant assistance to cover expenses for abortion seekers and requiring insurance coverage to include abortion care.
As unelected judges and anti-abortion lawmakers try to strip away our rights, we need Cori Bush’s leadership in Congress to protect life-saving abortion care.
