Bumping this important message for you.
We still need 2,000 signatures in support of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) by tonight at midnight.
Tomorrow is Women’s Equality Day and while it’s important to take a moment to recognize the anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, we must also recognize how far we have to go for true gender equality.
100 years have passed since the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was first introduced and women’s rights in this country are still constantly under attack. MAGA Republicans are escalating their attacks on abortion rights and more each and every day.
Women should be treated equally and I will never stop working to create a society that respects every individual. Add your name if you support the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Help us gather 5,000 signatures by the end of Women's Equality Day tomorrow to make our voices heard loud and clear!
I have always stood up for women's rights and I will never stop.
In 1970, at age 21, I went to Albany with members of what was the beginning of the group we now know as NARAL, to lobby in support of a state bill to decriminalize abortion in New York State.
As a young local politician, I watched in awe as George Michaels, a Democrat from an anti-abortion district, stood up and cast the deciding vote to pass the law. He declared that though it may cost him his political career, he could not live with himself if he cast the vote to keep abortion illegal.
That is the kind of political courage we need to show now in standing up for the Equal Rights Amendment. Women deserve the freedom and dignity to make personal decisions about their lives and bodies and to be treated equally under the law. It’s that simple.
We cannot let women be in this battle alone. Help us take the next step and finally ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.
In honor of Women’s Equality Day, join the fight to give women equal rights in America. If you support the ERA, add your name now!
Thank you for all that you do,
Jerry
