If you’re running for public office, you better have a good reason. It ain’t easy.

A bunch of people who have never met you are going to attack you, tear you down, smear your name.

You’re going to spend a lot of nights on the road, and a lot of time away from your loved ones.

But I’m not complaining — I know why I’m doing this.

I’m running for the same reason I joined the Marines:

Because I love this country, and because I love the people in it. Working families and the middle class need somebody who will fight for them in the Senate. I will.

But to win this race, we have to raise some significant resources.

And the way this campaign is funded is by people like you chipping in to emails like this. Our average online donation is about $26, and we’ve had over 200,000 donations so far this year.

I’m really proud of that. You should be, too.

But we need a lot more to win. And that means we need to ask you to donate from time to time.

And today is one of those days.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to make a donation, please: Make it today. We’ve fallen behind on our goals, and we really need your help. Anything you can afford will help us catch up.

One last thing:

I never thought I’d have thousands of people like you backing me up. And I never thought I’d need to ask you to do more. But to win, I do.

Just know that I appreciate it, and I don’t take any of it for granted.

Thank you.

Ruben
