Last week, my opponent Rep. Jason Smith and Missouri Gov. Parson hosted a “roundtable discussion” on healthcare...that was closed to the public and unannounced.
In fact, a local pastor and a healthcare activist who wanted to present their thoughts to their Governor and their Member of Congress were actually forcefully removed from the meeting.
The message that today’s Republican Party is sending to voters is loud and clear: shut up and get out. As people die in MO-08 from a lack of healthcare access, Missouri Republicans refuse to meet with the public. This is reprehensible and totally unacceptable.
We're doing things differently. Since we launched this campaign in June 2019, we’ve held 11 public, advertised town halls. We’ve talked about healthcare, income inequality, social security, recycling & civil rights. We’ve packed rooms all across the District.

Why? Because too many people haven’t had a chance to share their stories in years. When this happens, our representatives lose touch and end up working for the corporations and special interests who bankroll their campaigns. This campaign is about the people of MO-08. It's about giving my neighbors a fighting chance at survival in a time when their jobs, their farms, their homes, their very way of life is increasingly at risk.
We're in this to win, and to finally give rural Missouri a real leader. If you're with us, we need your support and appreciate anything you can give to put these awful people on notice: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ellis2020?refcode=em_closed_doors
