Dear John,
There certainly is a lot of disagreement these days.
But you would think that we all could agree on working together to find loving homes for children in the foster care system. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case in New York.
A New York state government agency is targeting a Christian adoption provider simply because it disagrees with the provider’s beliefs.
New Hope Family Services in Syracuse, New York has walked with both adoptive families and birth parents alike for almost 50 years. It takes no government money, and ministers to families and children entirely with its own funds. And it has done so with excellence. New Hope even received a positive review from New York’s Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). But months later, the OCFS told New Hope that it must either violate its religious beliefs or shut its doors.
New Hope hadn’t changed any of its policies since its favorable review. So, why is it being threatened with closure now? |
