140 Judges Later: Senate Democrats Work To Diversify the Federal Judiciary ([link removed])

By Paige Anderholm

Here are some updates from today and yesterday.
* The Republican-controlled Ohio Ballot Board approved ([link removed]) new summary language for an abortion rights amendment that will be decided by voters this fall.
+ The rewrite comes from Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) in a complete overhaul of the previously certified “fair and accurate” wording, following the defeat of Issue 1. A Democrat on the board called the language "misleading and defective.”
* All 19 defendants in the Georgia election subversion case have surrendered ([link removed]) before Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' (D) deadline, which was today at 12 p.m. EDT. They will be arraigned next week.

Here’s what’s coming up on Monday.
* There will be a hearing in a right-wing lawsuit ([link removed]) challenging guidance from the Wisconsin Elections Commission that allows voters to ask election officials to spoil (or void) their absentee ballots and permits voters to request a new absentee ballot if they make a mistake or opt to vote in person instead.
* A status conference will be held ([link removed]) in former President Donald Trump’s Washington, D.C. Jan. 6 case.
* A hearing will be held ([link removed]) in Fulton County, Georgia to determine whether or not former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ case will be moved to federal court.
