Hey Friend, it’s been another busy week. Some quick thoughts and updates below.

On The Road

Butts County Rotary

This week, I’ve traveled across Georgia sharing updates about what our office is doing to put consumers and families first.

In Butts County, I spoke with the Rotary Club about a variety of issues — from lawsuit reform, to recovering more than $50 million for taxpayers, to closing the loophole that let auto insurance companies raise rates with no oversight.

I recorded a quick video after my speech that you can watch here.

Georgia Firefighters’ Association

In Augusta, I spoke to the Georgia Firefighters’ Association’s annual conference.

I’m proud of the work we’ve done to reduce fire-related injuries and deaths in Georgia. We’ve strengthened our partnerships with local first responders and tripled the number of arson K-9 units across the state.

As I often say, the work our office does isn’t always “red meat,” but it does have a real impact on lives and communities across Georgia.

NAAIA

Back in Atlanta yesterday, I joined the National African American Insurance Association’s Southern Regional Forum.

My message was simple: we will always put consumers and families first, and we will do everything we can to keep Georgia competitive and the best state for business.

Fellow Army Veteran

Last Saturday, I spent some time with fellow Army veteran, and current U.S. Senator, Tom Cotton.

We discussed the issues facing our country and why Republicans must win in Georgia next year. You can view a photo from our meeting here.

Have something on your mind? Let me know.

John King

Georgia Insurance Commissioner

Commissioner John King got his start as a beat cop with the Atlanta Police Department. He worked various assignments, including Red Dog and Organized Crime, before joining the Doraville Police Department. Before becoming Chief of Police, he served as a Detective and Deputy Chief.

During his 17 years as Police Chief, Commissioner King tackled corruption, implemented community policing in at-risk neighborhoods, and cracked down on gang violence through early intervention programs at local schools.

In addition to his career in law enforcement, Commissioner King spent four decades serving in the U.S. Army National Guard — enlisting as a private and retiring as a major general.

He deployed to Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan  — earning the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, El Salvador gold medal for achievement, meritorious service medals, and a NATO award along the way. Commissioner King retired from active duty in 2023.

As Georgia’s Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, Commissioner King has disrupted the status quo, put Georgia families first, and held the powerful accountable. He was appointed by Governor Brian Kemp in 2019 and elected to a full term in 2022, making him Georgia’s first Hispanic statewide elected official.
