August 25, 2023     Friday File Donate Now KSGOP CLICK HERE       Guest Column by Donald Trump Campaign 45th President of the United States Proven Leadership Tested and Successful Policy America First A message from Team Trump The only candidate who can deliver the policy changes and leadership required to restore the economy, national security and southern border was not on a Milwaukee stage this week. Why? Because Donald J. Trump’s administration achievements speak for themselves: 1. Economic Growth: President Trump implemented a series of policies focused on economic revitalization, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which implemented tax cuts, deregulation, and pro-business policies. Trump's administration pursued an aggressive deregulatory agenda, aiming to reduce burdensome mandates in the sectors of energy, finance and healthcare, cutting bureaucratic red tape, and eliminating outdated ones. The goal was to boost business innovation, promote competition, and stimulate economic expansion. These measures stimulated business investment and job creation, resulting in robust economic growth and historically low unemployment, particularly for manufacturing and minority communities. 2. Energy Independence: President Trump pursued an energy policy focused on promoting domestic production and energy independence by unlocking America’s God-given abundance of oil, natural gas and clean coal, reducing our foreign reliance. The administration rolled back energy regulations, expanded drilling opportunities, created jobs in the energy sector and reduced the price of gasoline, diesel and natural gas to historic lows. 3. Foreign Trade Agreements & Middle East Peace: President Trump renegotiated several trade agreements, including the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to replace NAFTA and imposed record tariffs on China. The USMCA aimed to modernize and rebalance trade relations between the three countries, all while pursuing an "America First" foreign policy agenda that focused on protecting American interests and renegotiating international agreements. The Trump administration brokered historic peace agreements in the Middle East, including diplomatic breakthroughs such as the Abraham Accords, which normalized diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab nations, fostering stability and cooperation in the region. 4. Military Dominance & Veteran Affairs Reform: The Trump administration prioritized rebuilding and modernizing the military, by increasing defense spending, investing in new technologies, and focusing on improving military readiness. Trump also prioritized improving services and care for American veterans by implementing various reforms within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to enhance accountability, reduce wait times, and expand access to healthcare services for veterans. These efforts reversed long-standing issues within the VA system and provided better support for those who served in the military. 6. Judicial Appointments: President Trump had a significant impact on the federal judiciary through his appointment of conservative judges, including three Supreme Court Justices: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. By appointing over 200 conservative judges at various levels of the judiciary, Trump shaped the courts for years to come, advancing his administration's policy agenda and leaving a lasting impact on constitutional interpretation, manifesting in the historic Supreme Court reversal of Roe v. Wade. 7. Secure Southern Border: President Trump implemented strict immigration policies and enforcement measures creating the most secure border in U.S. history. This included the deployment of additional border patrol agents, construction of physical barriers and policies, including ending catch-and-release and zero tolerance, which required certain individuals to wait in Mexico while their asylum claims were processed and prosecuted all individuals entering the country illegally. Trump intends to execute even more hard-hitting policies aimed to strengthening the border in his second term, including land and sea military deployments, ending birthright citizenship and floating barriers in the Rio Grande. These accomplishments represent only a selection of the Trump administration's historic impact in shaping the political landscape for the better. Bring him back to finish the job! What you need to know: On the debate stage in Milwaukee, voters were presented with a clear choice of winning Republican policies vs. the failed Biden-Harris agenda. Republican leadership in the White House will get our country back on track. Our Republican nominee will be the next President of the United States, and this debate showcased many of our great Republican candidates and their ideas for the future of our country. For 3 years, Joe Biden and the Democrats have delivered crisis after crisis. Voters are ready for change. According to Real Clear Politics, Biden’s average approval rating is 41.6%. A Republican president and administration will jumpstart our economy. Poll after poll shows voters trust Republicans on the economy. A majority of Americans say Republicans in Congress understand their economic problems better than Biden, according to a Harvard-Harris poll. More Americans think Republicans have a better plan to reduce inflation, according to an Economist/YouGov poll. The Republican Party holds a 12-point advantage on economic policy, according to a Pew Research survey. American energy independence will be a pillar of a Republican administration. Americans are paying the price for Biden’s anti-American energy agenda. On average, Americans have lost over $2,250 paying increased energy costs since Biden took office. Nearly 20 million households are behind on their utility bills. Under a Republican administration, we will secure our southern border and tackle the fentanyl crisis our country is faced with. Under Biden’s watch, illegal immigrants and deadly drugs like fentanyl have flooded across the border. Including "gotaways," there have now been more than 7 million illegal border crossings. Since Biden took office, more than 22 tons of fentanyl have crossed the southern border, enough to kill 10 billion people. Republican leadership will make our communities safer. Last year, at least nine cities, seven of which are Democrat-run, saw record homicides. In Biden’s first year, at least 12 major U.S. cities – all Democrat-run – set new homicide records. According to the latest Harvard-Harris poll, 56% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of violence and crime in the country. Republicans will ensure that parents are given a say in their kid’s education. Biden slow walked reopening school for months, even letting teachers’ union bosses and major campaign funders dictate CDC guidance. National test results for students have plummeted to levels we have not seen in more than two decades. Voters in battleground states trust Republicans to do a better job than Democrats in education according to a new poll by Democrats for Education Reform. The bottom line: Voters are ready for real leadership in the White House and on November 5, 2024, Americans will elect a Republican president and Republican candidates up and down the ticket. Biden's Cruel Border Crisis Under Biden’s failed leadership, our communities are less safe as smugglers and cartels are thriving. Joe Biden’s border policies are cruel, inhumane, and do not work. What you need to know: New data shows 183,503 illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border in July – a 27% increase in crossings from last month. For 29 straight months, monthly apprehensions have been higher than even the highest month seen under the previous administration. With roughly 5,900 daily encounters, this dwarfs the definition of a "crisis" set by Obama's DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson when he said in 2019 that "more than 1,000" apprehensions a day "overwhelms the system." 7.2 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office. This includes the 1.4 million gotaways have escaped past Border Patrol into the U.S. Border officials say that the official number of gotaways vastly undercounts the illegal immigrants who make it into the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations estimates that Mexican cartels are now making $13 billion a year smuggling illegal immigrants into the U.S. Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate with only 5 to 10% being intercepted as border officials struggle to contain the smuggling. 1,756 pounds of deadly fentanyl was seized at the southern border in June alone, with much more getting through. Since Biden took office, more than 22 tons of fentanyl have crossed the southern border, enough to kill 10 billion people. The bottom line: This is the worst border crisis on record, and it has lasted for 29 months. Biden’s policies are directly to blame – border experts and people crossing the border themselves have said as much. Yet Democrats insist Biden’s policies are working. Shame on them.     Conservatively Speaking by KSGOP Chairman Mike Brown Presidential Primary Debate The aftermath of the inaugural GOP presidential primary debate has ignited a flurry of opinions and speculations among political enthusiasts. A recent Washington Post poll, in partnership with FiveThirtyEight and Ipsos, has provided insight into the perceptions of Republican voters, shedding light on the standout performances of the contenders. Among the eight candidates who graced the stage in Milwaukee, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis emerged as the victor in the eyes of a significant portion of Republican voters. A substantial 29% of those polled attributed the best performance of the night to DeSantis, underscoring his ability to resonate with the party faithful. This strong showing marks an early indicator of DeSantis's popularity within the GOP and the resonance of his ideas among conservative voters. Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy's performance secured the second-highest approval rate, garnering support from 26% of GOP voters surveyed. This highlights the intriguing mix of backgrounds within the Republican lineup, showcasing the party's openness to individuals from diverse professional spheres. Notably, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley secured a double-digit approval rate, with 15% of Republican voters endorsing her performance. This demonstrates her continued relevance within the party and her knack for connecting with a segment of the base. The poll's findings also reveal intriguing patterns further down the rankings. Former Vice President Mike Pence, once a prominent figure within the party, secured fourth place with a modest 7% support. This result reflects the evolving landscape of Republican politics and the rise of new voices. The Milwaukee showdown, skillfully hosted by Fox News, marked the initiation of a series of monthly debates orchestrated by the Republican National Committee. This strategic move showcases the party's commitment to fostering informed and robust discussions that will shape its future trajectory. Outside of the debate hall, the presence of former President Donald Trump alongside Tucker Carlson drew a staggering 66 million viewers. This substantial viewership demonstrates Trump's enduring ability to captivate the nation's attention, even as the GOP field expands with fresh faces and new ideas. In conclusion, the first GOP presidential primary debate provided intriguing insights into the dynamics of the party's internal contest. Ron DeSantis's strong showing, coupled with the diverse performances of other candidates, sets the stage for a compelling and closely watched primary season. As the Republican National Committee continues to organize regular debates, the nation can anticipate more opportunities to witness the evolution of the GOP's bright future and next generation of Republican leaders.   Marion Newspaper Raid As your KSGOP Chairman and a staunch Kansas Conservative Republican with a journalism education and background, this story is of personal importance to me for several reasons. The recent law enforcement raids on a local newspaper's office and a journalist's home in Kansas have sparked a troubling debate across America surrounding press freedom and the protection of First Amendment rights. The incident has drawn widespread outrage and raised concerns about potential violations of federal law. In the small town of Marion, Kansas, a police department carried out raids on the Marion County Record newspaper and the home of one of its co-owners, prompting a slew of condemnations from First Amendment experts. Allegedly under the pretext of investigating "identity theft," officers seized computers, cellphones, and reporting materials from the newspaper's office. These actions not only disrupted the newspaper's operations but also had tragic consequences, as one of the co-owners, 98-year-old Joan Meyer, passed away shortly after the raid. Her collapse was attributed to the stress and emotional toll caused by the intrusive actions of the authorities. The situation has raised serious questions about the balance between law enforcement's duty to investigate potential wrongdoing and the fundamental rights of journalists to gather and report news without undue interference. The raid appears to run afoul of the Privacy Protection Act of 1980, which prohibits law enforcement officials from searching newsrooms or seizing journalists' information without specific justifications. Despite a limited exception that allows such action if journalists are suspected of being involved in a crime, this instance seems to connect to the newspaper's legitimate newsgathering activities, potentially making it an infringement on First Amendment rights. The First Amendment must always be placed as the guiding priority and unwaveringly and doggedly protected, regardless of political ideology. The case also brings up concerns about the abuse of power by law enforcement and the importance of holding them accountable. The actions of the police chief, who reportedly forcibly took a journalist's cellphone, further escalate the violation of press freedom and highlight the need for clear boundaries between the role of law enforcement and the media. While newsroom raids are rare in the United States due to their illegality, this incident underscores the critical importance of safeguarding press freedom, especially in a democratic society. As the newspaper's staff perseveres through these challenges and continues its commitment to journalism, it remains vital for the legal system to address these violations and ensure that such breaches of press freedom do not become normalized. In an era where journalism is manipulated for political gain and truthful news is more difficult to root out, it is still vital to the political process. The liberal lopsidedness of the media will correct itself through us voting with our pocketbooks. In the meantime, the incident in Marion serves as a stark reminder that the protection of a free press must be unwavering.   Made in America Made in Kansas Starting next month, the Friday File will be featuring a Kansas-made products. Stay tuned for some great features on products from businesses right here in the great state of Kansas!   Biden’s Pathetic Responses to Every Crises: Human Suffering Edition President Joe Biden's recent responses to American disasters have left many citizens feeling deeply dissatisfied and frustrated. From the devastation caused by the wild fires in Hawaii to the tragic train derailment in East Palestine, OH, his actions have fallen short of what the nation expects and America deserves. The people in East Palestine are still waiting for a visit from Joe, but there is nothing of the sort on the White House schedule. In Hawaii, where wild fires wreaked havoc on local communities, President Biden's response has been lackluster at best. The people of Hawaii were, and still are, looking for leadership, decisive action, and something resembling empathy from their president. Instead, they received a series of disjointed statements and vague promises. It's crucial that the president steps up in times of crisis, not only to provide aid and resources but also to offer reassurance to those affected and to convey that the federal government stands with them. Biden's shockingly disappointing handling of the tragedy in East Palestine has left heartache and loss of hope hanging in the air. The guy-wrenching events that unfolded demanded a strong, swift, personal, and compassionate response. Unfortunately, what we witnessed was a leader detached from the gravity of the situation, asleep at the wheel, and nowhere to be found. Americans need a bold and compassionate president who can comfort, console, and guide the nation through its darkest moments. Anything less is not only unacceptable but also a disservice to the very essence of leadership. In both cases, the lack of immediate and effective action raises serious questions about the administration's disaster preparedness, crisis response strategies, and whether they even care about Americans beyond their votes. The American people deserve a leader who is proactive, transparent, and fully engaged in addressing these challenges head-on. Any president needs to recognize that their responses to disasters have far-reaching consequences. They shape public perception, influence recovery efforts, and ultimately define a presidency. As citizens, we should hold our leaders accountable for their actions and demand a higher standard of leadership that reflects the nation's values. In times of crisis, the American people deserve nothing less than a president who rises to the occasion with compassion, competence, and unwavering commitment. This is America, and we are better than this. Leadership begins at the top. And as my Aunt Topsy used to say, “Kid, you better get to gettin’.” She was, and is, talking to you, Joe.     “ The road to Socialism, abject poverty, human suffering, and the end of freedom on earth runs through the middle of a divided Republican party.” ~ Mike Brown     Donate Now KSGOP CLICK HERE     About KSGOP Donate 1776 Club KSGOP Leadership     Mailing Address: P.O.
