96 Remembering the 13 In July 2021, just a month before the
capital of Afghanistan would fall to the Taliban, President Joe Biden
said that it would be "highly unlikely" that the Taliban would "overrun
everything" and "own the whole country."

But just a month later,
that's exactly what happened.

Americans watched as our citizens were
forced to the rooftop of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, waiting to be
airlifted to safety. Chaos, confusion, and ultimately, catastrophe,
would follow.

Tomorrow will mark the two-year anniversary of the
bombing of the Kabul airport that killed

13 selfless and patriotic U.S. service members and more than 170 local
civilians.

We owe it to them, to their friends, families, and loved
ones, to never forget their sacrifice in the fight for our nation's
highest ideals.

Governor Holcomb's Week That Wasđź‘® Giving the Blue
the Be Governor Eric Holcomb speaks at the groundbreaking of the
addition to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy training facility.
This week, Governor Eric Holcomb broke ground on an historic expansion
of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) training facility.
ILEA
provides basic training to more than 600 Hoosier law enforcement
officers annually and is the state’s only residential facility to house
student officers who are in training from across the state. The project
will provide a new dormitory, updated classrooms and training
facilities, Indiana State Police offices, emergency vehicle track and a
scenario-based training village. What he's saying: "I am proud to break
ground on this world-class facility so we can continue training up law
enforcement officers throughout our state. It is critically important
to invest in police instruction and training and Indiana is doing just
that," said Gov. Holcomb.

Context: In 2021 Gov. Holcomb supported
new funding for ILEA and signed HEA 1006 into law providing a $70M
appropriation.
Through this and additional federal funds, ILEA will
now benefit from a total of $95M in greatly needed upgrades. What else
happened this week? Gov.

Migrants Back Into
Mexicohttps://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/biden-lower-percenta

"Biden
administration officials say their new immigration policies have
discouraged many migrants from trying to cross the border since the
Covid ban known as Title 42 ended in May.

"But an NBC News review of
border crossing data shows that the Department of Homeland Security is
also expelling fewer migrants per day back to Mexico than it was in the
last full month before the end of Title 42.

"On average, about 1,000
migrants have been sent back across the border into Mexico since Title
42 ended May 11, compared with nearly 3,000 a day in April.

"As a
proportion of total border crossers, about 14% of undocumented migrants
caught crossing into the U.S. each day in July were sent back into
Mexico, down from a daily average of 32% in April."

Share Your Interest  🥅 Moving the Goalposts The Indiana Democrat
Party is moving the goalposts in an attempt to claim victory on
inflation.

Catch up: In a post last Wednesday celebrating the
one-year anniversary of the signing of the so-called "Inflation
Reduction Act" (a name President Biden wishes he hadn't given it), they
stated inflation had "fallen to pre-pandemic levels," seemingly
crediting the legislation.
"Pre-pandemic" can mean a lot, but when Joe
Biden took office, it was just 1.4%.
Get the facts: Democrats'
inflation disaster continue to hammer the pockets of Hoosiers.
At
3.2%, inflation remains more than twice the rate when President Biden
took office. Prices are nearlhttp://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CUUR0000SA0

Reduction Act deserves zero credit for the inflation rate dropping to
its current rate from a 40-year high of

[the Inflation Reduction Act] would have brought down inflation to
date.”

moving the goalposts, one thing is clear: Under President Biden, prices

01253;">Experts Carefully Optimistic About State’s Fiscal Footing as
Lawmakers Look to Cut Taxes Indiana Capital Chronicle:

"Indiana’s
budget chiefs offered a measured sense of optimism on the state’s
finances at a potentially transformational task force’s first meeting —
as Republican-aligned speakers pushed for big moves on taxes and
Democrat lawmakers expressed frustration with the group’s structure.
"The Interim State and Local Tax Review Task Force will examine
Indiana’s corporate tax, individual income tax, property tax, sales
tax, and others. Policy recommendations are due to the General Assembly
ahead of the 2025 budget-writing session.

“'Perhaps this will be the
beginning of the discussion to overhaul, in a major way, the tax
structure of the Hoosier State,' Chair Travis Holdman, R-Markle, said
Wednesday. 'Perhaps we’ll find that it isn’t the will of the
Legislature or our constituents to do much more than tweak the work …
done over the last couple of decades.'
