It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to addressing your concerns, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23. Delivering For TX-23 School Security Roundtable at Natalia ISD As a father of six, keeping our kids safe at school hits home. Last week, I met with Natalia ISD Board members, Superintendent Lana Collavo, and Natalia High School faculty to discuss school safety and security priorities for the upcoming school year. Building Community in Natalia After walking the halls of Natalia High School, I visited the future site for the new community center that the city of Natalia has envisioned since the 1950s. In Congress, I am fighting to secure the resources necessary to get this project across the finish line. West Texas Law Enforcement Tour Last week, I visited with several sheriff's departments across West Texas to see firsthand the challenges that our men and women behind the badge continue to face in the fight to keep our communities safe. My first stop was with Crane County Sheriff Andy Aguilar. Sheriff Aguilar has done a great job leading his department, and I look forward to continuing my work in Congress to advocate for additional resources. I presented Sheriff Aguilar with a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol to recognize the department's new law enforcement center. My next stop was with Upton County Sheriff William Upchurch. Sheriff Upchurch shared with me that oil theft is on the rise across the county – his department is working around the clock to stop the problem. My final stop of the day was with Ward County Sheriff Frarin Valle. During our drive through Monahans, Sheriff Valle and I discussed the need for expanded mental health resources for the community. The following day, I continued my visits with law enforcement by meeting with Sonora Chief of Police Pete Garcia. Chief Garcia showed me the department's older vehicles that need to be replaced. Through the House Appropriations Committee, I'm working to lock in funding for new police cruisers. Finally, I rounded out my law enforcement listening tour by meeting with Reagan County Sheriff Jeff Garner. Sheriff Garner and I discussed school safety initiatives and COPS grant funding available for local law enforcement agencies. Delivering for Monahans While in Monahans, I met with Chamber of Commerce Director Teresa Burnett and other local leaders to discuss the vision for a new child development center in the area. This center will provide after-school programs for students and useful resources for parents, such as financial literacy and parenting classes. Through my seat on the House Appropriations Committee, I am working to ensure that the Chamber of Commerce receives funding to turn this project into a reality for the community. Ozona Post Office It's time for a change at the Ozona Post Office. Stay tuned! Social Media Recap My team and I are always available to assist you. Please feel free to contact my office at any time.
