I was so honored to be so warmly received at Atrisco Heritage Academy High School earlier this week. (Seriously, check out my tweet. I was greeted with a marching band, the cheer squad, and even by their award-winning mariachi!)

The history of Atrisco goes back to 1598.

The Atrisco Land Grant is one of the oldest existing land grants in the United States. And more than 400 years later, heirs of original settlers still own, cherish, and celebrate their land.

It was so incredible to meet with student groups, student leaders, and teachers to learn about what’s on their minds and hear more about the legacies and traditions celebrated on this land.

So, thank you again to the students and educators at Atrisco Heritage Academy HS for letting me visit and learn from you. It was an honor to spend the day with you!
