My work in TX-31 and Congress Howdy Texan – While I have a moment before heading to Bell County, I wanted to give you an update on the work I've done on behalf of Central Texans. ON THE DOCKET: Securing Long Overdue Medals Listening Session with Local Veterans Investigating Food Access Issues at Ft. Cavazos Salado Mobile Casework Hours THE BRIEF: Earlier this month, House Oversight Republicans released detailed banking records showing how the Biden family and their business associates received $20 million in payments from foreign actors in Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan during Joe Biden’s time as Vice President. Texas spot electricity prices soared by more than 60-fold over the weekend, climbing toward the $5,000 price cap as the state grid faced some of the tightest conditions for power supplies so far this summer. The U.S. Justice Department argued for the removal of Texas’ floating border barrier in federal court this week. PRESENTING OVERDUE MILITARY MEDALS The Powell family contacted my office earlier this year inquiring about lost military service records for their father, who had passed away. In securing the paperwork, my office also discovered that several earned military medals were never delivered to the Soldier for his valiant service. This week, I presented the Powell family with the military service medals their dad, husband, and grandfather earned while serving this nation decades ago. Our office can assist with issues involving a federal agency, including lost military records and missing medals. If you need help cutting through bureaucratic red tape, please visit my website. I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! Are rising gas prices impacting your family's budget? Yes No LISTENING SESSION WITH LOCAL VETERANS I held a listening session with Burnet County veterans to hear directly from them about the issues they are experiencing after their service. We talked about access to dental care, delays in booking appointments at the VA, retirement homes for veterans, and mental health. As the chairman of the Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee, holding these listening sessions gives me feedback I can use in Washington to improve the lives of America's veterans. INVESTIGATING FOOD ACCESS ISSUES AT FT. CAVAZOS As a representative of Ft. Cavazos, my top priority is the well-being of the soldiers stationed there. After learning of food access problems, I sent a letter to Ft. Cavazos leadership investigating the decisions that led to these issues. I will get to the bottom of this and work with Ft. Cavazos' leadership to ensure it never happens again. SALADO SENIOR CENTER MOBILE OFFICE HOURS My constituent liaison team held mobile office hours at the Salado Senior Center. Mobile office hours allow constituents to receive one-on-one help from my office outside our regular office locations. Representing you and Texas in the United States House is an honor and privilege. Sincerely, John R. Carter Visit our website! WC Willamson County 4411 S I 35 Frontage Rd.
