John, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is taking his anti-climate crusade straight to our schools.
Under DeSantis’s leadership, Florida’s Department of Education just approved materials from the Prager University Foundation to be taught in schools. And yes, this is the same private, far-right organization known for teaching climate denialism to children, discrediting the established science, and mocking the people concerned about global warming.
Listen: Being an elected official who turns a blind eye to our climate is already bad enough. But indoctrinating our children into the cult of climate denial?! That’s outright sinister — and it’s part of a clear strategy to force climate issues to take a backseat to the interests of Big Oil and Gas.
Folks, these videos spread dangerous misinformation about our climate reality. Whether they’re desensitizing our children to the severity of climate warming trends or disavowing the merit of clean energy, these videos are teaching our kids that our climate fight is a hoax at their most impressionable.
DeSantis’ latest assault on public education is an affront to climate scientists, educators, students and their parents. Worse yet, it opens the door for other states to introduce these pseudo-science curricula into classrooms across the country.
