August 25, 2023 Radical Climate Agendas are Hurting Americans and the Planet Yesterday, I joined Fox Business to highlight a recent op-ed I penned in response to radical climate activists and their agenda that is harming the energy and national security of Americans. We also discussed President Biden's abysmal response to the devastating fire in Maui and the need to properly fund our Border Patrol heroes. To watch the full interview, click here or watch below. Bidenomics is Hurting Americans Since President Biden took office over two years ago, costs for Americans have skyrocketed. President Biden's 'Bidenomics' plan is making everyday goods unaffordable. Since President Biden Took Office: Inflation is UP more than 15% The cost of groceries has risen by 20% U.S. gas prices are up over 60% Monthly natural gas bills are up more than 40% Biden's policies have led innovators to stop research on potential new treatments for cancer The Inflation Reduction Act is expected to increase the launch prices of drugs Republicans are delivering on our commitment to lower costs, and that starts with unleashing affordable, reliable energy from the Permian Basin. Uncovering the Biden Administration We are approaching almost nine months in the Republican majority in the House of Representatives. Since taking the majority, House Republicans have delivered on our commitment to America by holding vigorous oversight over the Biden Administration. Just this year alone we have conducted the following: 631 Hearings 619 Biden Officials testifying 917 Oversight Hearings 45 Subpoenas Sent Honoring the Monuments Men I had the honor to present a Congressional Certificate and flag flown over the U.S. Capitol for the last surviving member of the Monuments Men, Richard Barancik, who passed peacefully earlier this summer. During World War II, a special unit of Allied soldiers was created to safeguard civilization’s most important artistic and cultural treasures from the destruction of war and theft by the Nazis -- they became known as the Monuments Men and Women. PFC Barancik was one of them. After the war, these heroes worked tirelessly to return millions of looted cultural treasures to their rightful owners. A special thank you to Shelby Landgraf who assisted in coordinating this special honor. I am proud to join Representatives Ronny Jackson (R-TX-13) and Derek Kilmer (D-WA-06) in introducing the Rural Hospital Technical Assistance Program Act to protect and strengthen rural hospitals. This bill makes permanent an existing program at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that provides technical assistance for rural hospitals to help prevent closures, strengthen essential healthcare services in rural communities, and improve financial and operational performance. Fort Cavazos Operational Test Command Center It was an honor to visit Fort Cavazos and tour the Operational Test Command Center (OTC) with Colonel George Hackler. The mission of this unit is to test each piece of equipment that is placed in the hands of a soldier. While on the tour, I was also briefed on the techniques that the OTC is utilizing to modernize the United States Army. I am proud to represent the exemplary men and women of Fort Cavazos in Congress and would like to say thank you to the base leadership for providing me with a hands-on look at what our soldiers in uniform are conducting each day. Taiwan Expelled from PARLACEN It’s incredibly alarming to hear that the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) expelled Taiwan and admitted China as a permanent observer. Taiwan has been a critical partner to PARLACEN and has helped grow Central America’s economy and strengthen democratic institutions in the region. The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) influence throughout the Western Hemisphere should be a concern to us all. On my trip to the region in July, I witnessed the CCP’s reach into the region. The CCP courts underdeveloped nations with high-interest infrastructure projects that trap these countries in debt that they will never be able to repay. The CCP then exerts its pressure on these nations to carry out their bidding within international bodies. In addition, I have seen how the Party has contributed to Latin America’s democratic backslide and human rights erosion. I wholeheartedly denounce the recent PARLACEN decision expelling Taiwan and admitting the CCP as a permanent observer. There is no doubt that the CCP will exploit this situation to exert its malign influence. Any increase in the power of the Chinese Communist Party is a direct threat to not only our allies around the world but our safety here at home. I am working to prevent the CCP from buying farmland in the United States and transporting fentanyl into our country. Thank you for reading. It is the honor of my lifetime to serve you in Congress.
