John, I've treated victims of gun violence many times in the emergency department. I've seen up close the horrific physical and emotional damage caused by it.

Gun violence in our country is a public health crisis. I'm fed up with the politicians in Washington who've turned a blind eye to this crisis and, instead, have put the interests of the NRA above the well-being of Americans in malls, theaters, schools, and countless places throughout our communities.

Arizonans witnessed a horrific mass shooting nine years ago in Tucson. Two years ago this month, the worst high school shooting since Columbine happened in Parkland, Florida. This past summer, over 30 people were murdered in the course of a day when mass shootings occurred in El Paso and Dayton. And just last month, there were 28 mass shootings.

This will keep happening if politicians -- like my opponent, David Schweikert -- continue to oppose common-sense gun safety bills which the vast majority of Americans support. There is an incalculable human cost to inaction, and too many of us have seen it in our communities.

I'm asking you to join me, along with other pro-gun safety candidates and organizations across the country, to demand that Congress act to pass common-sense legislation to reduce gun violence and keep Americans safe.
