Dear MoveOn member,
During the first Republican presidential debate on Wednesday, the GOP candidates seeking to surpass Donald Trump demonstrated how spineless and uncommitted to democracy they are—and how obsequious they are to Donald Trump. Trump has been impeached twice, faces 91 criminal charges, and incited a deadly insurrection in attempts to remain in power, but despite all of this, most of the prominent, leading candidates proclaimed how they still will support him if he is the nominee. Even if he's convicted.1
Their cowardice has enabled Trump's criminality and the corruption that permeates the MAGA leadership of the Republican Party. That’s why during the first GOP debate, we launched an advertisement on Fox News exposing some of the top GOP candidates' positions on Trump’s indictments.
We ran this hard-hitting ad in D.C. and across the country, in districts currently represented by some of the most vulnerable Republicans in the House—all of whom are trying to be silent on the 91 charges facing Trump. These Republicans are torn between their most rabid MAGA supporters and the fact that the majority of their constituents believe that Trump is not above the law—and running ads like this and mobilizing grassroots tactic to put these Republicans on the defense is a key part of our work to defeat them and end MAGA GOP control of the House of Representatives in 2024.
It’s remarkable that even after Trump betrayed our country by trying to steal an election he knew he lost, almost all the GOP presidential candidates and those running for Congress continue to stand by Trump. And all for their own political gain. They must be exposed for who they really are.
This ad could be pulled off only because of the MoveOn members who funded it and the 400,000+ petition signers demanding that Trump be disqualified from the ballot. The 14th Amendment bars anyone involved in insurrection from holding public office. And now is the time to keep sending that message: that Trump should be constitutionally barred from running, that Republicans continue to enable him, and that so-called "moderate" Republicans need to finally speak out. And with your help, we'll get this ad before more voters in key districts and across the country.
Check out the ad and share it on social media!
While GOP candidates were squandering their primetime debut by sucking up to Trump, he was elsewhere. A year ago, it was impossible to predict that Tucker Carlson, the country’s most popular talk show host, would be fired from Fox News and that Trump, the GOP frontrunner, would skip the first GOP debate. And instead, the two of them would come together, in spite of Fox News, and air an interview to millions where Donald Trump could deny his criminal charges and claim that his crowd on January 6 was filled with "love and unity."2
Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Book bans have skyrocketed thanks to right-wing state laws which have forced teachers to remove books from their classrooms. In response, MoveOn is launching a "Banned Bookmobile," filling it with books that the far right has banned, and driving it around to hand out those books, for free, in highly trafficked areas that will attract media attention. To keep the Banned Bookmobile up and running into 2024, we need your help.
