Bill Alert: House Bill 465, Genital mutilation
Idaho Representatives are considering legislation that would ban experimental sex reassignment surgeries and cross-sex hormones for minor children. These so-called “treatments” cause irreversible sterility and fertility---but when performed on children, it’s no different in principle than female genital mutilation, which is already prohibited by legislation passed unanimously last year by the state legislature.

Use our new
“Contact Your Representatives” tool to encourage the House Judiciary, Rules, and Administration Committee to pass House Bill 465.

It will only take a minute, but will make all the difference for the state of Idaho and future generations!
Sex Reassignment Surgery for Minors:

Sex reassignment surgical procedures and hormone therapies cause permanent and irreparable harm to the minds, bodies, and reproductive organs of children. When clinical studies show that up to 94 percent of boys and 88 percent of girls overcome their gender dysphoria and accept their biological sex by the time they reach adulthood, it is essential that medical professionals don’t do harm to these children by making irreversible changes to their reproductive systems.

Senate Bill 515: Idaho Patient Act (IPACT)

After a two hour debate on the House floor today (02.24.20), a majority of the House voted to pass House Bill 515, with a vote of 49 (in favor), 20 (opposed), and one absent. The bill is now on its way to the Senate.

The Idaho Patient Act "seeks to correct the gaps in the law by restoring basic free-market principles of
transparency and access to information in the healthcare marketplace"; however, the last thing this bill does is restore the free market in healthcare. In turn, this bill severely curtails a doctor's ability to collect on medical debts. Moreover, it will be more of a cost burden for the patient and brings more regulation to Idaho.

Use our new “Contact Your State Legislators” tool to voice your opposition to IPACT and encourage the Senate to seek better solutions to this issue.
