In the year since the Supreme Court’s devastating decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, nearly half of all states have outright banned or severely restricted access to abortion. The consequences of this cruel decision are more appalling every day as women are forced to travel hundreds or thousands of miles to seek care or go without it.
In the face of these harmful restrictions, it is vital that we keep fighting to restore reproductive rights nationwide. We must pass the Women’s Health Protection Act to ensure that all Americans, no matter where they live, can get the care they need when they need it and that doctors can provide care without fear of criminal prosecution and intimidation. As the top Democrat on the Energy and Commerce Committee, I will continue to fight for the right for everyone to make their own health care decisions with their doctors – not politicians. I am committed to ensuring that every woman can access abortion and birth control.
