Folks,
A year ago, we won our competitive special election in Upstate New York against all odds.
And we won because we worked together, building a coalition that rallied around our fight for fundamental freedoms.
Many of you have asked me about the lessons I learned this past year and how I’ll use them to prepare for the tough fight ahead in 2024. I want to use this moment to tell you about that experience.
The lesson: In Washington, there are patriots who fight on the side of freedom, and there are extremists whose lust for power and greed is greater than their commitment to American ideals.
A few examples:
Patriots protect democracy; others protect those who attack it.
Patriots protect freedom for all Americans; others drape themselves in the flag while voting to strip fundamental rights from half the country.
Patriots keep promises like the ones we’ve made to seniors in Medicare and Social Security; others would rip these programs away to pay for tax rebates for private planes and tax breaks for those who need them least.
Patriots protect public safety; others allow our streets and our schools to become war zones, forsaking the will of an overwhelming majority of Americans who demand an end to gun violence.
Patriots serve; others perform. I’m not a performer. I’m a public servant.
There are two sides. I’ve chosen mine, and today I am asking you to help me build a united front once again by pitching in to my 2024 re-election campaign. [[link removed]]
