Dear Friend,

On Saturday in El Paso, an anti-immigrant white supremacist with an assault rifle killed 22 people.

Then, just hours later, another nine people were murdered in a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio.

America has now seen 251 mass shootings this year alone—and the corporate media still won’t report the basic reality of why this is happening: too many guns, not enough gun laws, and a bigot in the White House whipping up white supremacists.

Common Dreams is holding Donald Trump and the NRA accountable for the epidemic of gun violence. Will you make a donation to Common Dreams today?

No other country has anywhere near the rates of gun violence and mass shootings that we have in the U.S.

But the response of the mainstream media has become almost as maddeningly predictable as the shootings themselvespretending that the solutions are some big mystery, refusing to label Trump a white supremacist, and blaming “both sides” for inaction.

And then there’s Fox News, which simply spouts NRA talking points and defending Trump no matter what he says or does.

At Common Dreams, we’re not afraid to call BS on the NRA.

When a pro-NRA politician sends “thoughts and prayers” to the victims of gun violence, we will call them out.

We connect the dots between the rise in white nationalism and Donald Trump’s incitements of violence.

Journalism is essential for the functioning of democracy, and Common Dreams is the independent, nonprofit news source with the courage to report the facts about guns and racism. Will you make a donation today?

Yes, I’ll make a donation.

Thank you for all you do,
