Virginia is a huge flashpoint this year, but you might not be hearing a lot about it. That’s understandable — multiple indictments of a former president is… pretty big news.

But it’s our job to make you care about it. So please, let us explain why this is so important.

The voters of Virginia will go to the polls this November and elect their state house representatives. Republicans hold the Assembly, and Democrats have a slim majority in the Senate.

We’re backing a number of strong candidates from Military and National Security backgrounds who could swing the Assembly to Democrats and help hold the Senate. We’re donating to their campaigns, we’re providing strategic advice, and we’ll help with the ground game down the home stretch to Election Day.

We’re doing this because it’s the right thing to do — both for the candidates we’re backing and for the people of Virginia. We have a huge opportunity to change things for the better, and a small amount of money can have a huge impact.

But beyond that, it’s going to help us in 2024 — it’ll help us defend a Senate seat, and it’ll help chalk up one more state for President Biden in what’s going to be an incredibly tough campaign.

The weird thing is, we’re one of the only organizations that seems to get how important this is. We have boots on the ground, but the cavalry hasn’t caught up yet.

Now, if we’re the only ones doing this work — so be it.
