My name is Nikki Budzinski. I’m a proud labor advocate, trade unionist, and a newly elected member of Congress representing central and southern Illinois. In 2022, I won an extremely competitive race that flipped our district from red to blue for the first time in years, and now, I have the privilege of fighting for working families in Congress.

I was born and raised in Illinois, and my family instilled in me the value of community and service to others. My grandpa, a union painter, and my grandma, a public school teacher, showed me early on how essential unions are for a strong middle class. The examples they set led me to pursue a career in public service advocating for workers and strengthening labor rights and protections.

Because of that passion, I’ve spent my entire adult life standing up for working families. After college, I traveled the country fighting to get hardworking people the pay and workplace safety conditions they deserve. I fought to protect workers’ rights to collectively bargain for fair pay, safety protections, and benefits in states trying to attack those rights.

As a Representative, I’ve focused on building bipartisan relationships to cut through the gridlock in Washington and bring real solutions to our communities. I’ve led the charge on efforts to create training and apprenticeship programs for job-seekers, support farmers and rural economies, and expand affordable healthcare access, especially for veterans. And I’m just getting started.
