Friends,
A lot of important stories seem to slip through the
attention span of mainstream news outlets – here today, gone tomorrow – especially those that might highlight the many faults of our
state’s Democrat leaders. It’s those kinds of stories that you can count on us here at Shift WA to feature. Such stories often play a
pivotal role in shaping the policy landscape of Washington state – and we believe you deserve to learn more about them.
One such story includes State
Attorney General Bob Ferguson getting caught up in a web of campaign cash intricacies that he hoped would go unnoticed as he launched his
“exploratory” bid for governor. We here at Shift WA were quick to pick up the story – despite, of course, the subtle
absence of any real updates about his campaign contribution issues or court battles from the old-school media.
Early on we highlighted Ferguson’s campaign
attempting to funnel over a million dollars from previous campaigns into his current gubernatorial "exploratory" effort, all while
conveniently sidestepping the obligation to disclose his donors. But guess what? He got caught in the act.
The story is now gaining momentum, with the Washington
Observer joining the fray and echoing our concerns of Ferguson’s dubious activities. Their recent piece highlighted how Ferguson's campaign had
to amend (quietly, without telling anyone) its disclosures to the Public Disclosure Commission and send a hefty $86,000 back to a surplus campaign
account. Ferguson has been exposed for his attempts to sneak dark money into his “exploratory” campaign.
This is just one example of the kind of stories
we here at Shift WA are dedicated to reporting on – stories that need a closer look, stories that demand transparency and accountability,
stories that deserve to be at the forefront of voters’ minds.
Thank you,
The Shift WA team
