This is a lot of bad news, but weirdly? I’m actually encouraged.
I’m encouraged by young activists willing to risk arrest and force the people burning our planet to confront the consequences of their actions – and expose their corruption for the rest of us to see.
And I was encouraged that Ramaswamy’s “hoax” claim was immediately drowned out by loud boos.
Even many Republican voters know that what we are experiencing right now is not normal, and it is not sustainable.
Survival is the strongest human instinct. We are witnessing a coalition of voters forming who know that global warming is a threat to human existence and they expect their elected leaders to do something about it.
Bruce Percelay “doesn’t mind if you die,” but I do. I’m running for Congress to stand up the corrupt, corporate duopoly and fight for our collective survival.
We have the perfect opportunity to make history with this seat next year and elect the first ever member of the Green Party to Congress to really shake things up.
WA-02 is a deeply progressive district that has ZERO chance of falling into Republican hands. The ONLY two people who have any chance of winning this seat are the Democratic incumbent – a former lobbyist deep in the pocket of the fossil fuel industry – or me, a former teacher, union leader, and lifelong climate activist.
Washington’s Top Two primary system means the top-two vote getters head to the general election. In the last two cycles we came within 2.4% of the vote each time.
Next year, I know we can take the primary, win in November, and head to Congress to lead a defiant charge against the climate emergency.
In solidarity,
Jason
