Visit the IRS Nationwide Tax Forums website for more information and to register for our last program of the summer. 2.??IRS: Hawaii wildfire victims qualify for tax relief; deadlines postponed to Feb. 15 The IRS announced expansive tax relief for Hawaii wildfire victims in Maui and Hawaii counties. The tax relief postpones tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred from Aug. 8, 2023, through Feb. 15, 2024. As a result, affected individuals and businesses will have until Feb. 15, 2024, to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during this period. This news release is also available in Simplified Chinese. 3.??IRS webinar: Qualified Educational Assistance Programs Under federal law, employers who have educational assistance programs can use them to help pay student loan obligations for their employees. As part of a wider effort to promote this benefit, the IRS will hold a free webinar on Sept. 14 to help interested taxpayers and tax professionals better understand this special provision.
