Hey, John, I’ll keep this one short.

This is a tough email to write, but with less than a week left in the month of August, we’re falling behind on our donor goals.

When I decided to run this race, I knew that it wouldn’t be easy. I don’t have a quarter of a million dollars to loan myself. I’m not counting on a flood of money from lobbyists and massive, corporate super PACs. This campaign depends on contributions from grassroots donors just like you, and we need about 25 more contributions today in order to stay on track for our goals.

We can’t afford to fail, John. There’s too much at stake—if we want to take back our state government so we can make an investment in our people, we have to flip the Treasurer’s office next year. And our Republican opponent isn’t going to take things easy on us.

That’s why it’s so important that we add at least 25 more contributions to our campaign chest today—and that’s why I’m asking you for your support. Can you chip in $10, $25, or anything you can today to make North Carolina the best state in the country to live, work, and start a family?

I know I ask a lot of you, but I promise I wouldn’t ask if it didn’t matter. Because of what grassroots supporters like you have already contributed, we’ve been able to show the world how serious this campaign is. We’ve been able to assemble a campaign team who knows how to win. But that’s just the beginning, and I need you to dig deep so we can get our message to voters in all one-hundred counties and win this race. Together, I know we’ve got this.
