Co-defendant in Georgia says false electors met at Trump's "direction"
While last night's release of the mugshot heard 'round the world understandably dominated the news headlines, it wasn't the most consequential event to unfold in Georgia yesterday. Lawyers for Shawn Still, a state Republican lawmaker charged alongside Donald Trump in the racketeering conspiracy to subvert the 2020 election, directly implicated the disgraced ex-president and argued that their client signed false papers claiming to be a legitimate presidential elector — at Trump’s explicit direction. They're starting the flip, folks. The teflon may finally be flaking away. [RETWEET THAT!]

District Attorney Fani Willis just indicted Trump — and now she’s facing terrible sexist attacks
UltraViolet: Coverage of District Attorney Fani Willis’ efforts to bring Trump to justice have been riddled with with sexist and racist attacks and double standards that baselessly question Willis's character and qualifications, all because she dares to go after the rich and powerful. The UltraViolet Education Fund has had ENOUGH and working to stop the media from putting her in danger and promoting these harmful attacks. Will you chip in to stand with Fani and support their efforts?
Trump already using his mugshot for merchandise
The disgraced ex-president waited all of 90 minutes after leaving the Fulton County Jail in Georgia on Thursday night to begin hawking his criminal mugshot to his MAGA minions. The serial grifter's election campaign announced in an email that it would — ahem — give away a “free” premium cotton t-shirt with Trump’s scowly mugshot printed on it for a measly donation of $47. Like clockwork.
Trump returns to Twitter, or whatever Elon is calling it this week, for first time in more than 2 years
The beleaguered ex-president tweeted for the first time since Jan. 8, 2021, with a vow to "NEVER SURRENDER," just after he surrendered to authorities in Georgia for his fourth criminal indictment.

Federal court stops oil project near Colorado River — for now
The Uinta Basin Railway project was set to ferry vast amounts of crude oil from northeast Utah eastward alongside the Colorado River before the US Court of Appeals in Washington, DC, successfully challenged the project’s environmental impact assessments, siding with the railway’s opponents and striking a blow against what would have been the largest petroleum corridor in the United States. While temporary, the ruling is a huge win for the more than 40 million Americans who rely on the Colorado River for their drinking water.

Hawaiian Electric may have compromised evidence for fire investigation
The utility company responsible for providing electricity for 95% of the state is already being blamed for its alleged role in starting the horrific Lahaina fires earlier this month. Authorities now suspect Hawaiian Electric could also have thwarted the investigation into the root cause of the catastrophe. According to The Washington Post, Hawaiian Electric removed "fallen poles, power lines, transformers, conductors, and other equipment from near a Lahaina substation starting around Aug. 12" under the guise of restoring power to the island and conveniently before federal investigators arrived on the scene.

Motorcyclist dies in crash after a New York City police sergeant threw a cooler at his head
According to authorities™, a motorcyclist fleeing New York City police officers conducting a "buy-and-bust" drug operation died Wednesday after a sergeant hurled a plastic picnic cooler at his head from close range, causing a fatal crash. The victim's mother told reporters the police narrative was “all lies,” insisting her son was not selling drugs or trying to evade officers. She said she was on a video call with him from Puerto Rico when suddenly the screen went dark. Sergeant Erik Duran was suspended without pay just hours after the horrific incident.
Kremlin denies killing Yevgeny Prigozhin in plane crash
The Kremlin has predictably denied that it assassinated the Wagner boss who led a short-lived, armed rebellion against Vladimir Putin's government earlier this summer. The denial comes one day after Western intelligence officials indicated that Prigozhin was most likely killed by a planned explosion on board the mercenary chief's plane — on Putin’s orders.
