Much like King Charles III, who arrived at Balmoral this week, we're taking a quick summer break. As is tradition when the British monarch returns to the Scottish residence for the summer, a small ceremony was held outside the castle gates.
King Charles was warmly welcomed back with an honor guard formed of the Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland. And yes, of course the regiment's mascot, Shetland Pony Corporal Cruachan IV (pictured above) was in attendance. King Charles arrived at Balmoral on Monday -- the same day UK police announced it wouldn't be taking any further action following an investigation linked to one of his charities.
Despite being at the royal Scottish retreat, the King made sure to send his condolences to the people of Canada after the wildfires forced states of emergency to be declared in the Northwest Territories and British Columbia. "We know that this Summer has been an incredibly difficult one for Canadians everywhere. Severe flooding, devastating fires and deteriorating air quality due to smoke have impacted the country from coast to coast to coast," the King's message read.
We'll resume our usual Friday sends on September 8.
Until then,
Max & Lauren
