In the past 24 hours, we’ve gotten a good look at every one of the Republican Party’s possible nominees.

First, there was the GOP debate. If you skipped it, you’re probably a sane and healthy human being. We are not. Here’s what you missed:

Ron DeSantis wants to sign a 6 week federal abortion ban (also something about Penny in a Pan??)
Vivek Ramaswamy believes climate change is a hoax
Mike Pence is a human sleeping pill

And then…

And ^ this ^ guy is the frontrunner.

Here’s the bottom line: the incentive structure of the Republican primary process all but guarantees that the nominee is a radical extremist.

So whether it’s Donald Trump or one of his wannabes at the top of the ticket, we’ve got a ton of work to do between now and November 2024.
