Pledge to Show Up for Domestic Workers
At NDWA, we believe that all workers, no matter their job, should be treated fairly and have safe workplaces. The Federal Domestic Workers Bill of Rights is an important step to make this happen – and we need your help to get it passed [[link removed]].
The bill is the first comprehensive national legislation to provide basic labor rights such as safe working conditions, fair wages, and protections from discrimination and sexual harassment for domestic workers across the country.
By pledging to take action, you commit to promoting and advocating for the Federal Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. Your actions can help create a better future for domestic workers and the families that count on them. Together, we can empower domestic workers and create a brighter future for everyone.

The virtual bus tour amplifies the powerful voices of domestic workers as they engage in rallies, roundtables, and lobby visits calling for inclusion, dignity and respect in the workplace. The nationwide “tour” will culminate with a call for congressional leaders to co-sponsor the Federal Domestic Workers Bill of Rights next month. August is Make-a-Will Month
It’s not necessarily something we want to think about, but it’s vital we all make a will and plan for our family’s future without us. And if we’re being honest, estate planning is something marginalized communities often lack access to.
This August, consider making a will and promoting equal access to this essential tool of security and care. As we celebrate Make-a-Will Month, we invite you to consider leaving a lasting legacy of support for domestic workers and their rights by including NDWA in your will. Crafting a will ensures your wishes are honored and loved ones provided for.
* How to Get Started: Freewill [[link removed]] makes it easy to write a will and designate nonprofit organizations as beneficiaries. It only takes 20 minutes to write or update your legal will, for free.
* Include NDWA: If you decide to include NDWA in your will, please make sure to use our full legal name: National Domestic Workers Alliance, and our tax ID number: 35-2420942.

Celebrating Five Years in PA
The NDWA PA chapter celebrated its five year anniversary! Since August 2018, the team has been organizing Philadelphia area nannies, housecleaners, and caregivers to win the justice and dignity they all deserve.
Watch our video for a few highlights from the last five years. [[link removed]]
We're so proud of the work we've done in the last five years, including securing the passage of the Philadelphia Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, But, ever since the bill was passed, some employers have violated the law innumerable times and even retaliated against workers who stand up for their rights.
This is why the PA chapter has launched a new campaign to put an end to all employer retaliation against workers, ensure that all of our labor laws are enforced, and that the Philadelphia Office of Workplace Protections has the budget it needs.
Sign up here if [[link removed]] you want to learn how you can support the campaign, or if you currently employ a domestic worker and want to learn more about how to comply with the Philadelphia Domestic Workers Bill of Rights.

This Month In Domestic Worker History
In August 2010, New York Governor David Paterson signed into law a bill that included overtime pay for live-in workers, one day of rest out of every seven, three paid rest days per year, and protection from sexual and racial harassment.
For the first time since the 1970s, domestic workers in New York had won new legal rights.
The coalition behind this monumental win organized for almost seven years, bringing together over 4,000 workers into coalition with employers, unions, students, attorneys, clergy, and a range of labor and community organizations from across the state.
