John —
In a couple weeks, the U.S. House of Representatives will reconvene in Washington after the August recess.
While it’s called a “recess,” it’s some of the most productive time members of Congress have, because it’s when they can spend time meeting with their constituents and hearing from community members. As a fighter for Middle and Southwest Georgia, Congressman Bishop knows the importance of spending time with the people he serves.
Normally, when recess ends and members return to Washington, they get to work advocating for their districts, taking their constituents’ voices with them to the halls of Congress. This Congress, however, with partisan extremists taking the reins — not so much.

Last Congress was one of the most productive in modern history, as slim Democratic majorities in both chambers rallied around a common vision for our country. We lowered prescription drug prices for seniors, capped the cost of insulin for those on Medicare at $35 per month, got our economy back on track after the COVID-19 pandemic, fought hard to take care of our veterans, and created jobs around the country.
But this year, the Republican-led House has failed to do much of anything. Congressman Bishop will keep working hard in DC to represent his constituents, but the GOP majority needs to come to the table.
