Last night’s debate was a sad display of Republican talking points and tiptoeing around Donald Trump to avoid upsetting his base.
What we saw from Donald Trump’s competitors tells us a lot about the state of the GOP.
We’re about to dive into the big takeaways from the first GOP debate, but before that: Can you chip in $30 for 3 things we learned about the field competing for the Republican nomination?

1) A federal abortion ban is very possible. While candidates bickered about 6 weeks versus 15 weeks, this much is clear: The GOP isn’t done attacking abortion rights.
2) Any of the GOP candidates would be a nightmare in the White House. From further destroying our climate to tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy, this party only cares about the rich and powerful.
3) This is still Donald Trump’s Republican Party. Only a small number of candidates were willing to even remotely criticize him, and more time was spent praising him than addressing his litany of crimes.
Whether it’s Donald Trump or one of the other extremists on stage last night, it’s clear we can’t afford to let them anywhere near the White House. Will you chip in $30 to help defeat the GOP up and down the ballot?
