It’s been a big month!

The highlight for me was most certainly President Biden’s visit to Milwaukee last week to celebrate his Affordable Clean Energy Plan that’s already brought millions of dollars in funding and hundreds of jobs to Wisconsin.

What is the Biden Affordable Clean Energy Plan?

President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan is the largest investment in clean energy in United States history and is already starting to boost Wisconsin's economy in a major way. People in Wisconsin and all across the country are seeing once-in-a-generation investments that will save people money, make our communities healthier by reducing pollution, and create good paying jobs.

Thanks to Pres. Biden and our climate champions in Congress, Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Rep. Mark Pocan, and Rep. Gwen Moore, the Affordable Clean Energy Plan was signed into law as part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) of 2022. It is a historic $370 billion federal investment in clean energy and climate action. It has been transformative for Wisconsin’s businesses, workers and residents, having already spurred $445 million in investments and moving forward more than 500 clean energy jobs.

We have an opportunity for fair maps

Wisconsinites want clean lakes and rivers, thriving forests and prairies, and a healthy planet for our children. But under our current highly partisan voting maps, the state legislature refuses to enact popular policies to protect the environment.

But, your generosity, advocacy – and vote – helped elect Justice Janet Protasiewicz to the Wisconsin Supreme Court this spring, paving the way for fair, equitable political maps. The day after she was sworn in, a lawsuit was filed challenging the constitutionality of Wisconsin’s heavily partisan gerrymandered maps. Be it PFAS, Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan, or our Stevens Point Clean Energy Campaign, Wisconsin Conservation Voters has been in the news all summer! Check out some recent coverage of our issues and events!

WUWM: Biden visited Ingeteam last week and touted the benefits of his Affordable Clean Energy Plan. “Since I took office, I've seen more than $3 billion in private investment, in clean energy manufacturing all across Wisconsin. That's Bidenomics. That's investing in America," Biden said. [[link removed]]

Wisconsin Public Radio: Gov. Evers vetoed two bills that would have locked in the use of fossil fuels by local governments. We applaud him for projecting our state from this dirty energy. [[link removed]]

WJFW Stevens Point: We launched our Stevens Point Clean Energy Campaign last month and it’s making a splash! [[link removed]]

WSAW Wausau: We hosted a press conference in Wausau with Mayor Katie Rosenberg to talk about the dangers of PFAS and the need to change the current legislation. [[link removed]]
