Dear John,

Last Saturday was the 2023 Muskie Lobster Bake!

We’re grateful to everyone who was able to join us, especially to our speakers: Ken Martin , Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee and Chair of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, House Majority Leader Mo Terry , Assistant House Majority Leader Kristen Cloutier , Senate President Troy Jackson , and Governor Janet Mills .

It was wonderful to have so many elected leaders with us to speak about the successes of the legislative session and to remind us why Democratic governance is so important here in Maine. Our Democratic leaders continue to deliver progress for Maine people on issues such as Paid Family & Medical Leave, affordable and accessible childcare, combatting the housing and homelessness epidemic, and much more!

Volunteers, activists, and supporters like you are why we saw such success at the ballot box last November, and were able to maintain Democratic leadership not only in the Governor’s Office but also across both chambers of the State Legislature. We as a State Party are already working to make sure that progress will continue past the next election cycle by electing and re-electing Democrats at all levels in 2024.

In

What’s Happening in Washington D.C.

Not So Great Debate: Last night was the first 2024 Republican primary debate, and there was one clear winner: President Biden. The participants seemed to be competing over who could have the most extreme (and unpopular) position on every policy issue. From national abortion bans to calling climate change a “hoax” to election denialism, it was clear that every candidate onstage is out of touch with the American people, who have affirmed their positions at the ballot box over and over again. Luckily, we have President Biden in office, who will veto any perspective national abortion ban, whose policies have done more to address climate change than any previous administration, and who was elected with more votes than any other President in history.
