Dear Friends,
Servicemembers and their families deserve the same access to reproductive health care as the people they protect.
Now is the time when the House and Senate are in final negotiations on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This bill determines so much about how military servicemembers and their families live and the health care they have. Let’s make sure this year’s bill protects their reproductive well-being by:
Including a provision that eliminates contraceptive copays for servicemembers and dependents who still face out-of-pocket costs that civilians don’t and
Blocking a provision that prevents servicemembers and their dependents from taking leave to travel for abortion care.
The House has pushed forward language in their version of the bill that contains both of these provisions. The Senate version of the bill does not have either of these provisions. While the House and Senate meet to negotiate their respective versions into a final bill, we need to fight to make sure the anti-abortion language is left out and the contraception amendment is included—and ultimately signed into law!
Please help us to honor the service of our military and the sacrifices of their families. Take a moment to urge Congress to include no copay contraceptive coverage in the final NDAA, and to get out of the way of servicemembers and their families traveling for abortion care.
