Then and Now: 10 Demands of the 1963 March on Washington

August 28, 2023, will mark 60 years since more than 250,000 demonstrators and activists gathered for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. After Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, civil rights activist Bayard Rustin read the march’s “10 Demands.” In the days leading up to the 60th anniversary, CLASP is revisiting the 10 Demands on our social media channels to seek feedback on how far our nation has come in addressing those demands – and what we still have left to do.
