Team,

There is nothing more fundamental than defending our democracy and preserving our government that is of, by, and for the people. To do that we need to protect our voting rights.

Ever since the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and former President Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election results and spread his "Big Lie," voting rights have been under attack.

That's why two years ago today, I was proud to help pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act in the House to stop discriminatory voting policies and practices. But in 2023 we're still fighting to get this critical legislation signed into law.

Let me be clear, team: Voter suppression is a threat to our democracy, and safeguarding our democracy means defending voting rights. This should not be a partisan issue. That’s why I will never stop fighting to restore the protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and ensure our elections are free and fair.
