PLUS: Judge our Moot Court Competition
WEBINAR
** HIV and Hepatitis Criminalization in Missouri
------------------------------------------------------------
Join Brad Sears this Thursday, February 27, for a webinar to discuss findings from our new report, The Criminalization of HIV and Hepatitis B and C in Missouri: An Analysis of Enforcement Data from 1990 to 2019. The study examines the enforcement of laws that criminalize exposing others to HIV or hepatitis B or C, using data from the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Between 1990 and 2019, at least 593 people were arrested in Missouri for HIV/hepatitis crimes, based on statutes that are outdated and do not reflect current medical science. A hearing on legislation to modernize Missouri's statutes on HIV and hepatitis criminalization is likely to be heard next month.

The Williams Institute hosts the only national moot court competition dedicated exclusively to the areas of sexual orientation and gender identity law. This year’s problem will address the constitutionality of laws banning licensed healthcare professionals from using conversion therapy on youth.
All judges will be offered one hour of MCLE credit for attending an optional educational session before the competition. Judges will also receive a complimentary ticket to the Williams Institute’s Annual Gala Reception on Friday, April 3, 2020.
