The election results in Nevada are a referendum for Medicare for All.

A poll conducted by Edison Media Research showed that 63% of Nevada caucus-goers support a single-payer system over private health insurance. Union members of groups like the Culinary Workers Union bucked calls from their union leaders to vote against candidates who support Medicare for All, using language that insisted those members would lose the healthcare coverage they currently have.

Voters were out in force to show they believe healthcare is a human right and to fight for healthcare for every American.

Bernie Sanders’ win in Nevada and his popularity in the Democratic caucuses show us that there’s momentum behind issues such as Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, tuition-free state and public college, defeating rampant corruption in Washington, bold criminal justice reform, having wealthy corporations and individuals pay their fair share, and a general call for progressive reforms.

But it’s going to take more than electing a progressive President. We must reshape Congress if we want to see legislation like Medicare for All make it past the House and Senate.

Voters are showing up, and they are fighting. It’s time to mobilize that momentum across the country. Brand New Congress is supporting 34 House candidates and 3 Senate candidates who could be future BNC representatives. This means 34 House votes and 3 Senate votes for legislation that impacts us all.

That’s why we at BNC are gearing up our Get Out the Vote efforts. We are organizing call teams to help support our candidates by reaching voters. We are promoting our candidates across the country to reach more people. We are working hard to connect campaigns with volunteers to help get the work done.

Our first primaries in Texas and California are only 8 days away, and early voting has already begun in these states!
