Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to interact with and hear the stories of hundreds of dedicated, loyal, and passionate activists who will long be remembered for the love and compassion they have for farmed animals. One supporter’s story that made an impression on me was Rena Roseman’s.

Rena started volunteering with Animal Outlook’s annual VegWeek back in 2011, working with restaurants to help them put more vegan options on their menus. She radiated warmth, compassion, and a determined energy to make the world better for farmed animals.

When Rena passed away in November 2018, we not only lost a dedicated volunteer, but a dear friend to the animals.

After her passing, Rena helped ensure that the work that was so close to her heart continued, through a donation to Animal Outlook in her estate. Her gift supported our annual VegWeek campaign and vegan outreach program, helped to fuel undercover investigations, and contributed to the growth of our legal advocacy program.

Rena’s husband Elliot said, “Rena wanted to make lives better for animals, not just for animals’ sake, but also because she knew that if people cared for their animals, they would care for each other and for the world in a much deeper, more profound way. Rena dreamed of making the world a better, more mindful, less violent place. In caring for the most vulnerable of us–animals included–we can bring about a more compassionate world, a world Rena was committed to building.”
