Special Olympics Arizona

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with some very talented athletes from Special Olympics Arizona in my Washington, DC office. I believe that the Special Olympics is a valuable education program, and I wholeheartedly support the program and its mission.

Casework Highlight

A Marine Corps Reservist in our district helped manage ticket sales for her unit for the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) ball. Because the website the USMC uses to manage ticket sales requires a Social Security number, she entered her own Social Security number. The Internal Revenue Service then charged taxes in the amount of $31,000 to her personally based on the ticket sales as reported on the website. She reached out to our office and we worked with the Taxpayer Advocate Service to identify which documents were needed to clear the debt. After submitting all of the required documents, the constituent received a letter confirming that the tax bill had been cleared, and she was no longer being charged the debt!

May God continue to bless you and our great Nation!

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Debbie Lesko
