Texas Governor Greg Abbott is putting lives in danger, team.
A few weeks ago, we learned that state troopers assigned to Gov. Abbott’s Operation Lone Star (OLS) program were ordered to push migrants seeking safety, including children and babies, into the Río Grande. And just this month, more reports surfaced of Gov. Abbott reviving family separation policies, ordering OLS officers to detain and separate fathers from their families.
Let’s be clear: These policies are barbaric, egregious, and violate basic human rights.
Since 2021, Operation Lone Star has wreaked havoc on Texas border communities. Costing billions in taxpayer dollars, this political stunt exploits public servants to target immigrant communities for arrest, incarceration, and deportation.
Operation Lone Star is cruel by design, and we will not be silent in the face of these injustices. NILC stands with organizations on the ground in Texas in demanding an end to this deadly initiative.
We urge you to consider contributing to organizations in Texas that are working tirelessly to fight back against Gov. Abbott's inhumane and immoral policies and provide support to those harmed by them.
