In a minute, I’m going to ask you to add a donation to our campaign before our end-of-month deadline ends this week. But if you give me just a moment, I’ll explain why your donation matters -- especially today.
I’m not like most politicians, folks.
Back when I was a kid, I even lost three fingers on my left hand in a meat grinding accident in my family’s butcher shop.
You see, I have lived my entire life on my family’s farm. Every single weekend, I return to Montana to help work the ground and get the wheat ready for harvesting. That explains a lot about me. I never lost touch with who I am or where I came from.
Here’s why I’m telling you this: just like my $12 flattop haircut from my local barbershop back home and my collection of dirt-stained t-shirts, my background is a big part of the reason I like to do things differently than most people in Washington.
I’m not a career politician. I’m just a dirt farmer with seven fingers trying to do what’s right for the people in my state and across the country.
Because of that, I don’t have much patience for the big donors and shady super PACs a lot of folks around here rely on. Instead, I depend on grassroots donations from people like you.
I promise I’ll roll up my sleeves and fight harder than anybody to protect our public lands, create good-paying jobs, and ensure families have basic things like a roof over their head and food on the table. But our success depends on people like you stepping up today.
So if you can swing it, I could use your help. Will you donate $10 or more toward our critical end-of-month goal? I don’t take your donation for granted, every dollar you give means something to me personally.

Thanks so much for being part of the team. I couldn’t do any of this without you.
