AUGUST 24, 2023
Dear Fourth District Constituent,
Happy first day of the Great Minnesota Get-Together! Whether you’re there for the Princess Kay legends, because you're *hooked* on Minnesota fish, or the plethora of new fair-fare on a stick, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. With high temps this week, remember to stay hydrated and follow these tips from the Minnesota Department of Health to keep you and your loved ones safe in the heat.
Federal Funding for Local Climate Action
Earlier this week I joined EPA and other Minnesota leaders to celebrate new investments for communities to address air pollution that were enacted when Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act. Climate Pollution Control Grants give local communities and tribal governments flexibility to tackle their most pressing needs to address air pollution—whether that’s developing new plans or supporting the implementation of existing ones.
It takes all of us to fight climate change, and I’m proud to help bring these strategic investments to Minnesota to protect clean air for our families.
Community Project Funding ✅
Signed, sealed, delivered! This week I was happy to announce $3.6 million in federal Community Project Funding has been released to Ramsey County and Washington County for projects that will help keep people safe and supported in the East Metro:
In Washington County, the project provides funds to purchase 20 Hybrid Squad Cars and two new River Patrol Boats and Motors.
Investing in the latest hybrid vehicle technology will help reduce fuel consumption and the impact the fleet has on the environment, while updating vehicles to ensure safe patrol and rescue operations.
In Ramsey County, the money will fund development of the “Familiar Faces” project to address the frequent users of emergency services who have cycled in and out of shelters, jails, and hospitals, for whom a much more targeted approach is necessary to ensure their needs are met.
Thank you so much to community partners in Washington and Ramsey Counties for their hard work and collaboration to make this a reality! Read more here.
