Congress is still in recess, but it remains a good time to reach out to your representatives and tell them to protect funding for programs that help vulnerable people.
If Congress does not pass a Fiscal Year 24 Appropriations Bill by September 30, 2023, then the federal government faces a shutdown which would freeze all funds to federal programs. To avoid a government shutdown Congress has three options: pass a FY2024 appropriations bill, pass a short-term Continuing Resolution (CR), or a long-term CR. CRs are temporary spending bills that allow federal government operations to continue when final appropriations have not been approved by Congress and the president.
Take Action Now! Urge Congress to allocate funds towards programs that address the needs of the most vulnerable individuals in your community, including children and elderly residents. (For more information, consult CCUSA's Federal Funding toolkit.) |
