Dear John,
A new study published by the Fraser Institute today compares median employment income in the 141 largest metropolitan areas in Canada and the United States.
Unfortunately, it's not good news for Canada.
Canadians in our largest urban centres are generally earning less employment income than people living in comparable American cities.
Only two Canadian cities rank in the top half, and most Canadian metro areas rank near the bottom.
The highest-ranking Canadian metro area is Ottawa-Gatineau (#52), followed closely by Edmonton (#53) and Calgary (#72). Canada's largest cities, including Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, rank among the lowest employment incomes in all 141 cities.
Check out the full results here, and be sure to share this news on social media.
Sincerely,
Niels Veldhuis
President
